Plant is frail but has strong hold on its life, an active growth and prolificacy. Thus, the plant signifies life energy under a harsh nature. A thin metal plate itself is soft but gains toughness by collisions(impact), knowing the basic property of metal. This characteristic of metal resembles the plant which also has strong life energy. Therefore, my work is focused on representing the "strength" under weak images of plant using thin metal plates. These two processes, injection using various chasing tools and hammering, definitely contribute the gaining of strength on metal plates and are the essential elements to define my own style of art. At times while processing, the diverse properties of metals are discovered and processed that are unplanned and never expected before. This in fact is the fun part of metal crafting primarily because my thoughts and ideas are implemented and shown on an object; in my case the plant. Since the metal is a very difficult material to return to in its original state after process, a careful study is required to produce a desired object. For example, the sides that are facing each other, treatments on edges must be studied thoroughly to represent each. Personally, this is the driving force to move forward in the metal craft industry.
